CLERKS SHUT IN A VAULT. POLICE CALLED TO RELEASE THEM. (Per Press Association —Copyright.) ("Sun.") OTTAWA, July 23. A man named Leslie Hathaway robbed a bank at Thorndale. Four clerks lived above the hank, and Hathaway, at midnight, 'herded them in a vault while he stole 6000 dollars. He drovo away in an automobile, but, when he had driven six miles- out of the town, became worried as to whether the clerks had been suffocated. He returned' and found 'himseJf unable to open the vault. He called for police and assisted to get an expert, who freed the fainting clerks. Hathaway quietly slipped away again, but an unlucky chance 'caused his arrest m the next town.
