RESEARCH IN ANTARCTIC.
SCOTT'S SHIP DISCOVERY, DEPARTURE ON LONG MISSION. (Per Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, July 24. The late Captain Scott's expedition ship, Discovery, which has been practically rebuilt, has sailed from Portsmouth to carry out 2£ years' research in the Antarctic,, principally in connection with whaling. After testing the echo sounding instruments in the Bay of Biscay she will convey stores to Tristan da Cunha, and will possibly call at Capetown. She will arrive at South Georgia in October.
