THE SECURITY PACT.
FRENCH AND BRITISH VIEWS. MEETINGS OF MINISTERS. (Per Press Association —Copyright.) LONDON, June 4. The meeting of Mr Austen Chamberlain and M. Briand is expected to be the most significant feature of the s4th session of the Council of the League of Nations, opening at Geneva on Monday. The session will probably continue for four days, the only items on the agenda being the unending squabble between Poland and the free city of Danzig, and the question of the treatment of minorities in little States created by the Treaty of Versailles. It is understood that Mr Chamberlain would not have attended but for the opportunity of a conference with M. Briand regarding the terms of the French reply to Germany's proposals for a Security Pact. The French Press affirms that Mr Chamberlain and Mr Baldwin are. willing to bind Britain to give military support to France and Belgium in the event of German aggression, but are unwilling to pledge themselves concerning Poland and Czecho-Slovakia. This however, is not confirmed by London in such an explicit form.
