ASHBURTON v. GERALDINE

On the Ashburton golf links on Saturday a match was played between a team' from Geraldine and a local team, resulting in a win for Ash baton by 124 games to 4j. The links weie never in better condition, and playeis were agreeably surprised. Play was or a decidedly interesting nature, although Ashburton won comfortably in the aggregate, the majority of the individual matches being closely contested. CH A AhPTONSHIP AND AIEDAL AIATCHES. The preliminaries in connection with the Ashburton Golf Club’s Senior Championship mil be decided on Saturday in conjunction with the July medal match, that is to say, the qualifying round of the championship will be played. Tile Club expects the keenest contest of its history this year, as during the year some new players have joined up, and many of last season’s contestants arc showing • improved form. The entries for the July modal match and tlio qualifying round of the championship close on Thursday, July 26.
