NO IMPROVEMENT,
Coal supplies are still very short in l Christchurch.
“There is no improvement in the position,” said the representative of a leading firm yesterday, “and there will' be none until shipments arrive from Australia. Our latest advise is that theminersl will resume work to-morrow, hut supplies will not he got until the third week in August. “Shipments in sight, in New Zealand' are not worth speaking about. Nearly 40 per cent, of the men in the southern mines are off work through influenza.”
