THE WEATHER.
UNSETTLED CONDITIONS. The weather is as yet far fi-om being back to tKW usual winter conditions experienced in Ashburton, but the sun yesterday and to-day struggled' lor mastery and succeeded in making the days much more pleasant than. they have been for some time. No rain has been recorded in Ashburton since Sunday night, and this morning, following a clean moon-lit night, there was a frost of three degrees intensity, the lowest thermometer reading being 34 degrees. Forty-eight was yesterday’s highest reading. At 9 a.m. to-day the barometer was reading at 29.96, at slight drop on the previous reading.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST.
The following forecast was issued:— The indications are for variable and moderate breezes, but southerly moderate to strong prevailing. Weather cloudy to overcast at times. There will probably be a, hard frost to-nieht. Barometer 'unsteady, but has a rising tendency.
