PENDARVES.
Owing to the inclemency of the weather there was only a small attendance at the fortnightly meeting of the Mutual Improvement Society. Mr C. H. Hampton presided and Mr M. Jackson acted as • secretary. During the first part of the evening an essay entitled "What will become of the Peace Conference?"—contributed and very ably read by Mrs Watson—was listened to with much interest. A short discussion on the subject took place, after which Mrs Watson was accorded a hearty ' vote of thanks. A "Question Box" was held and several important questions of the day were capably answered by members present. After supper a short dance was held, the music being supplied by Mrs Reid and Mr E. Rankin.
