RED CROSS FUND. SEAFIELD SOCIETY. The annual meeting of the Seafiekl lied Cross Society was held in the i schoolroom on May 25. The society was formed a year ago with 18 members, who have met once a month to distribute work, and forward finished garments to Ashburton centre. The membership has decreased owing to some residents having left the district, but everyone works willingly, j and intends to do ko until ihe war is I over: ■ Tho collections during the year through different efforts amounted to £191 7s 10d, also ■ 147 18s received From tho Patriotic Show, which was thankfully received, -/ •■ Tho society haa.donated 1 '£10 each to St. John>' Ambulance, ■ French lied Cross, and the Lady Liverpool Patriotic Fund, in addition to £2 monthly to the latter fund ; and has forwarded during the year::—sß nightingales, 59 1 nviama suite, 21 night-shirts, 26 day shirts, 40 undershirte, 47 bed jackets, 8 lounge,suits, 1 lounge coat, 11 dress- [ ing gowns, 7 underpants, 5 butter-cloth shirts, 5 waistcoats, 22 pairs day socks," 11 pairs bed socks, 9 scarves., 28 Balaclavas, 8 pairs mittens, 81 tray cloths, '89 fomentation cloths, 16 operation cloths, 32 face cloths, 3 towels, 17 hot water bottle covers, 4 ice bag covers, 6 bandages, 6 pillow-slips, 4 feather pillows, 10 writing blocks, 7 packets envelope,s, 156 medicine cloths, 12 treasure bags, 1 cot cover (knitted by school children), and several bundles of old linen.
