SARING SQUARE LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY.
Tiiu usual weekly meeting of the Baring JSquaro Literary and Debating Society was hold last evening, when Mr G. Bowman occupied tho chair. The ni-eot-iug took tho form of a Parliamentary election, when the following candidates aspired for political honours: — Reform, Mr G. W. Andrews; Liberal, Mr. T. A.Drury; Independent, Mr W. H. Higgins; Socialist, Mr E. Beaumont. After the different candidates had been severely cross-questioned in regard to their views on certain matters of local interest, the poll took place, and resulted in Mr T. A. Drury (Liberal) being elected by a substantial majority on the second ballot.
