A report from Noumea states that Britain and France are seriously discussing the question of a division of the New Hebrides. SYDNEY, December 26. Judge Roseby, the British representative on the Condominium Court of the New Hebrides, has arrived in Sydney. He refuses to discuss the statement that a proposal by France and Britain to divide the possession is being considered. , < The " Herald "- says.: Whatever the' proposals .are, something must be done/ Tko 'Condominium-is .'manifestly; a faifc lira. Australia must be consulted. We should feel chagrined if division _ left Britain weaker in the New Hebrides; evQn if she wore strengthened elsewher. We should let the British Government know how far we are prepared to go if money is required.
