THE UNEMPLOYED.
Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 23. A deputation of the unemployed waited on the town clerk to-day and stated that they had, m accordance with the Mayor's suggestion, applied to the secretary of the Charitable Aid Board for relief, and were informed that the Board made a point of not assisting able-bodied men unless under special circumstances. They stated that many were suffering privations, and agked what the Council would do. The town clerk stated that he had received a telegram from the Act-ng-Premier that the Minister of Labour and Public Works was taking on as many men as possible and doing tf.<; best to provide work m different parts of the dominion to relieve the congestion. ■
