Per Press Aasociation. LYTTELTON, June 9. At the Licensing Committee's annual meeting, Sergeant Ryan reported that there had been a marked increase m drinking at Lyttelton m the past six'months. The hotelkeepers agreed to ten o'clock closing, instead of eleven as m the past. ," DTJNEDIN, June 8. , The Licensing Committee to-day granted licenses to the Royal Albert Hotel and Wains' Hotel. The Central, Gladstone, Prince of Wales and the have been held over till the 21st, and two of these must go. Wain's was ordered to close the back bar and the licensee to do this. When applications came before the Licensing Committee this morning for bottle licenses, the committee refused the applications, on the ground that they doubted their jurisdiction to deal with them.
