ASHBURTON POULTRY SOCIETY.

CHAMPION SHOW ENTRIES; Gratifying entries have been received for the Champion Show, to be held m Ashburton on Friday and Saturday next, under the auspices of the Ashburton Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Society. The entries exceed those of last year, by 394, and what is of even greater, importance 1 is the fact that the chief classes are exceptionally wellfilled. The following is a comparative table of the entries for 1908 and 1909:

In the poultry classes breeders from Wellington to the Bluff are represented, and it is encouraging to note that local fanciers are strongly m evidence. White Leghorns are exceptionally: wellfilled, there being over 50 entries m the . several classes for this breed. Brown Leghorns and Minorca classes are also well to the front, while Wyandottes m silver, golden and white, figure prominently, more particularly thY former breed. Black Orpingtons will:he TJenned m large numbers, but the Buffs m this class are only fair. The classes for Indian runner ducks nre one of the outstanding features of the poultry, classes, tumbler and magpie classes m the pigeon sec+ion being also satisfactorily represented. In caitn ries. the chief breeds represented are Norwich, and Yorkshire, 1 and the entries m the juveniles' classes almost double those of last year.
