TIMARU GRAIN MARKET.
Business on the wheat market has again been fairly quiet for the past week, and with, the exception of the sale of 30,000 bushels of Tuscan and 14,000 of Velvet, which w"3^ sold by an Ashburton firm to a Timaru buyer at equal to 4s 4Jd f.0.b., little has been done. The average prices obtained for tho week are 4s Id, delivered, to 4s Id on trucks at convenient stations. There is a fair demand for oats for export. For prime lots" for export Is "5d to Is 6d can be obtained on trucks for Gartons, and the same for Duns on trucks at country stations. Inferior sorts are dull of sale. Potatoes.—Most buyers are shy, owing to the reports of blight, and good, lines guaranteed free from .blight are worth 70s to 40s at country stations. ' Barley—There are practically no enquiries for barley, and though somp farmers are holding fairly good lines, the price quoted, 2s, is not sufficiently high to tempt them to sell.
