TINWALD YARDS. TUESDAY, MARCH 2nd.

■ The weekly sale at the Tiuwald yards was largely attended, and the entry of all classes of stock was the largest that has been brought forward for some considerable time past. The total entry comprised 423 fat ewes, 248 butchers' lambs, 178 fat wethers, 2481 freezing sheep and lambs, oO pigs, 17 fat cattle, 26 store cattle, and rully 10,000 mixed classes of store sheep. SHEEP. Fat Pens. —Fat sheep sold freely, but as compared with prices obtained at the last weekly sale there was a drop of at least Is per head. The failing feed supply has no doubt induced farmers to accept slightly lower values, rather than keep surplus stock on hand. Freezing lambs commanded keener competition, but the prices offered fell short of the expectations of vendors, the top price obtained being 14s 3d. The following are prices: Ewes. —46 threequarterbreds at 8s sd, 12 halfbreds at 8s 11, 98"threequarterbreds at 10s 3d, 3 halfbreds at 6s 3d, 18 at 10s, 18 at 12s, 12 at 9s, 44 at 8s 3d. 18 at 8s 3d, 18 at 8s 3d. 19 at Bs, 6 halfbreds at 9s 3d, 1 crossbred at Us 6d, 1 half bred at Bs, 3 at'9s, 6 at 8s 6d, 25 at 9s Bd. Wethers: 34 halfbreds at 13s 7d, 8 at 13s lid, 4 at 10s Id, 17 2-tooths at 8s Bd, 1 halfbred at 13s 3d, 12-tooth at 13s Id, 3 halfbreds at 13s 3d, 33 at 12s 6d, 16 2-tooths at 12s lid. Lambs: 4at 10s Id, 26 at Bs, 4 at 12s 6d; 6 at 12s 10, 8 at 13s. Freezing Lambs and Sheep.—ll4 2tooth halfbred wethers at 12s, 268 lambs at 12s 3d, 370 at 13s lOd, 52 at 13s od, 60 at 12s 4d, 39 at 12s lid, 60 at 14s, 80 at 13s 4d, 50 at 13s Id, 193 at 14s 3d, 87 at 13s 6d. Store Pens. —The entry was a very mixed one, and a number of the lines were evidently from poor country. Competition, however, was fairly keen and a good deal of business was transacted at prices Is to Is 6d per head below rates ruling recent sales. Sales were: 56 full and failing mouth threequarterbred ewes at 7s 3d, 60 2-tooth halfbred ewes at 17s 6d, 39 fair mouth halfbred ewes at 8s 6d, 101 halfbred ewe lambs at .13s 6d, 135 sound .mouth threequarterbred ewes at 12s od, 127 4 and 6-tooth halfbred ewes at 15s lOd, 98 2, 4, 6 and 8-tooth threequarterbred ewes at lSs 3d. PIGS.The first yarding of pigs for months past was offered and competition was only fairly keen at the following prices; 3 stores passed m at 345, 1 sow £3 lQs, passed m ; one young sow m pig £4 Vs. 6d,' 1 at £3 2s 6,d,' 1 sow and 9 of a litter £5, 1 sow £2 15s, 14 stores at £1 18s, 25 at 41s. CATTLE. Fat Pens,—Of 17 head of fat cattle penned 11 sold at iate rates 'at the following prices: Heifer £5 55,-2 at £5 and £5 10s, steer at £7, cows at £4 10s, £4 12s 6d, £5 15s, £6, to £7 7s 6d. Store Pens.—The whole of the entry sold freely at the following rates: 5 small heifers at £2 ss, 15 small stores (steers and heifers) at £2 16s, 1 springer oow £6, 1 dry cow at £2 2s 6d, 1 at £5 ss, 3 email steers at £2 13s 6d.
