HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.

WELLINGTON, March 1. The Department of ' Industries and Commerce has received the following cable message from the High Commis•ioner, dated London, February 27:— Frozen Meat.—Mutton^ —The market is overstocked and depressed. Current quotations are—Canterbury, which is m small supply, 3^d; North Island, which is m large supply, 3&d; River Plate, 2|d; Australian, 2|d. Lamb— The market is very dull, and the supply exceeds the.demand. The weather lately has been very unfavourable to the sale of lamb. This season's Canterbury is quoted at*s&d, and other than Canterbury at 5Jd; Australian at id; and Argentine at 3|d. Beef— The market is weak, and there is less demand. Supplies of River Plate beef •ire heavy. Current quotations are—New Zealand hindquarters, 3_Jd; forejuarters, 2|d. Danish beef is selling •it a low price, clown to 3|d. Grain.—Wheat —The market is acbive? with a good demand. Nominal are—New Zealand longberried wheat on spot, ex granary, per quarter of 4961 b, 38s 6d; short-berried vheat on spot, ex granary, per quarter of 4961 b, 36s 6d. Oats—The market is quiet but firm; New Zealand short Sparrowbill oats, ex granary on n>ot, per quarter of 3201 b, 245; New Zealand Danish oats, ex granary on spot, per quarter of 3201 b, 16s 6d. } Beans—The market is firm, but the demand is only moderate; New Zealand beans, f.a.q. (old crop), per 5041 b, 235. Peas—The market is firm, with a small supply; Partridge peas, per 5041 b, 425. ■Wool. —The market is strong, and all stocks are advancing. Cocksfoot. —The seed market is flat, nothing whatever doing.
