LICENSING COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.

The nominations for the Licensing Committee for the Ashburtou licensing district closed at 5 o'clock last evening. The following gentlemen were nominated: Frederick .Robert Flatman, junr, farmer, of Woodbury; Thomas Edward Upton, farmer, Alford Forest road; fieaucha'mp Ranald Macdonald, sheep farmer, Orari; Francis Worcester Stubbs, county clerk, Geraldine, and Francis Henry Choat, auctioneer, Ashburton. Some of the nomination papers did not reach the returning officer till a few minutes before 5 o'clock. As the number of those nominated does not exceed the number required for the committee, there will be no election. The Ashburton Licensing Committee were nominated by the following: F. W. Flatman—F. Herlihy, town clerk; E. A. O'Malley, accountant; W. A. Davison, storekeeper; J. H. Dawson, shop assistant; G. B. Creemer, manager; Alexander McLean, accountant—all of Geraldine. T. E. Upton—John Rountree, farmer; Geo. Mcßae, farmer; J, McLeod, farmer—all of Ashburton. B. R. Macdonald—lda Mary Newson, lady's companion; E: A. Darby, gentleman; A. B. Maides, bank officer; A. Lysaght, farmer; George Worner, butcher; A. P. Barklie, solicitor, F. W. Stubbs—Jas. Gresham, shop, assistant; John Kennedy, accountant; C. T. Borrel, saddler; Jas. Chisholm, bank manager; E.
