CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN MARKET.
CHRISTCHURCH, February 26. Wheat. —There was a large amcaint of wheat offering during the week, especially on Wednesday, and a considerable quantity has changed hands. The news of a rise in the market in Sydney, published, on Thursday, has caused a little more keenness in the enquiry, and sellers are, now asking more. Most of the business recorded took place, however, before the news of the rise arrived. The following quantities were among those that changed hands: 6000 bushels of Pearl at 3s 7£d, 4000 bushels at 3s 6Jd, 2000 bushels of Tuscan at 3s 6J (both these lines being prime " milling in sound condition), 12,000 bushels of Hunters at 3s 6d, 1800 bushels of Tuscan at 3s 6d, 1900 bushels of Pearl and Tuscan at 3s 6d, 800 bushels of.Tuscan at 3s s*d, 400 bushels of Tuscan at 3s sd, 1400 bushels of Tuscan at 3s 3d—all at country stations, the three latter lots at near stations; also 500 bushels of fowl wheat at 3 3 ljd- ■ . I Oats.—There is still only a compara- i tively small offering of oate, principally Duns, and prices remain the same as lately qtioted. A line of 1200 bushels of Sparrowbills, which are scarce, was taken at Is 3|d, 5600 bushels of Gartons at Is 3d, and 2000 bushels of Duns at Is 2£d. Barley.—No fresh business m barley is. reported. Cocksfoot.—A few lots of cocksfoot have changed hands at 5d to 5Jd, but buyers consider the latter an outside price, and is paid to fill orders for immediate delivery. Potatoes: —Little has beeit done m early potatoes ; as they are barely ripe enough for shipment. Onions.—A fair amount of business has been done in onions at from £3 to £3 os.
