Taranaki; New Plymouth. 1st. September 1847. Sir, I have the honour to acquaint you that the Taranaki natives who claim the land South of the Sugar Loaf Islands, that has been recently surveyed by Mr. Carrington, have come up this morning to sign the Deed for the same, and receive their first instalment. I have therefore to request you will have the goodness to furnish a sum of two hundred pounds in silver for that purpose. September 1847. Sir, In addition to the sum of Two Hundred (£200) pounds received from you yesterday for the Taranaki natives, I have the honour to apply for a further sum of Twenty four pounds three shillings (£24.3/-) to purchase a cask of Tobacco for them.
