For a length of time opposed all I advanced. Finding, however, I was determined to have a hearing, silence was resumed, and full attention given, as I proceeded to appreciate the various good traits of white character; not withstanding which, there were still many of them difficult to control; as they no doubt found among their own people, especially different tribes who would not always support the authority and dignity of Chieftainship, and would also exaggerate and misrepresent.
