To McLean and Te Haurangi Awapuni 5 March 1851 Go off, my letter, to Te Kini and out to McLean and Te Haurangi. Sirs, Greetings to you, that is to you and your children. Sirs, greetings to you both and your Pakeha. I have very great affection for you and your Pakeha. Sirs, persist with your journey here. Friend, McLean, come quickly. I'm suffering here from the people of Heretaunga and the Pakeha too. The Pakeha told the Maori that I had completed with you the ceding of Te Matau-o-Maui out to Porangahau, with one side of the outer boundary for you and running on from the inland side to come out at Te Awanga. Hence I said to you to come here quickly, so we can all talk with these Pakeha. Their letter has also arrived and is with me. That is all, and with our love to you both.
