please excuse my not finishing the translations, as it would be totally out of my power to accomplish them by this mail. It is now one of the morning, and I'm writing by the light of a wretched dip in Henry's school-room, quite fatigued from the effects of natives' importunities. I expect to be in New Plymouth in a fort- night's time, and shall wait your directions if I cannot obtain labour there to finish the Hua survey.
