Sir, I have the honor to enclose copies of correspondence with the late government on the subject of receiving a fixed sum in lien of allowance in the shape of a pension and I shall feel obliged by your taking such steps as the Govt. may deem necessary in the matter with the view of having a sum placed on the estimates for the purpose.
