Napier, July 20th, 1861. My dear McLean, I am adding a few hurried lines to my letter to you, having just heard of a vessel sailing today. The meeting mentioned in the P. S. took place yesterday and was very largely attended by Natives from all parts of the Province. It was very satisfactory. The occasion was a feast to open the new Mill at Waha Parata. Many pakehas were there - Carter was too ill to go. They gave us a hearty welcome and a capital dinner. Moananui proposed the Queen's health.
