Napier July 21 1871. Dear Sir, I should be obliged if you would obtain the Honble Mr. McLean's sanction and send me of money and supplies advanced by Kinrossand Co. and others on behalf of Mr. McLean to the Native owners of the Ngatarawa Blocks and Maggateretere West Blk. on a/c on the purchase monies of those Blocks. Mr. Kinross has telegraphed to Mr. McLean to instruct you to send the a/cs; and no doubt you will have posted them before you receive this letter: but I write in case the a/cs'may have not been posted. I may say that the a/cs are of no legal consequence to Mr. McLean as the Natives are concluded by their deed: but if Mr. McLean should require the a/cs again I will send them to you after having made copies to put away with my papers. Yours very truly, Hanson Turton. To:-- D. McLean Defence Officer Wellington P.S. Mind you send the original a/cs though copies would be better than none at all. I want i.e. including upon Kinross & Co. by the Natives - also and by , and the general a/c shewing how you made up the sums expressed in the various deeds. H.T.
