Hamilton 13 March 1870 My dear Mr. McLean- Sub Inspector Newland brought up the 56 men on Saturday - he tells me he made application for leave of absence at Wellington - but was ordered here - I have given him permission to go to Auckland and see you on the subject - I am much pleased with the appearance of the men just arrived - They will be on the roads tomorrow - Believe me Sincerely yours William C.Lyon Honble D.
