Taranaki February 5th 1872 My dear McLean I arrived here yesterday and have been busy all day with callers and Deputations. You will have to come here, there is a silly feeling prevalent that you are neglecting this place in favour of Wanganui and Wellington. I had this today from all quarters and of course have done my best to persuade the people you are working for them from Wanganui. It is no use however they are jealous and come here you must before long or there will be a wrong feeling prevail - I have been pretty busy enquiring as to position of the place and I can see plainly it is want of land is keeping
