Wairoa April 27th/65 Dear Sir I have sent you all the news in my last letters. I observe old Matenga's letter in the Waka Maori I am glad it is published because he intends taking one or two of the Hauhau to Nuhaka to teach the people there. Fitzgerald is back and fixed in the government office why as contract surveyor he gets an office I dont know, I am obliged to ask natives into Lockwoods bedroom - I should be glad to get quietly out of this as the worst is over if properly managed - and there are plenty now to manage although they did not show very plentifully on Tuesday. I should not be surprised if some of the people who were here should go to Petone by way of Waikare and the Pouhoi - The weather is wet here at present so I cannot do much for a day or two - I remain Dear Sir Your Ob. St. S. Locke To His Honor D. McLean Napier
