Gabriels Gully 10 Oct. 1861 My dear Sir, Next day after my arrival at Otago I proceeded at once to the diggings I am now in Gabriel's Gully. The party I formed at first disolved. The second day after we commenced work The Gold Field is equal to the report and I beleave very extensive The diggings are not over 50 miles from Dunedin. Provisions is frightfull high which is a great drawback. I have sent for Johny. He will be of great assistance to me here. This province is the finest part of New Zealand besides the climate is good. I have 3 men imployed charges and expencis are very high, only obtained 3 oz yet. excuse this writing on my knee I am Dear Sir, Yours truly Chas. Cameron P. S. Give my respects to my friend W.
