Turanga 2nd. July 1866. D. McLean Esq. Wellington. My dear Sir, I have had my claims surveyed by Mr. Fitzgerald. They had passed through the Court held by Mr. Bell, when here on 30th. and 31st. December 1859. Mr. Bell then told me, on the land being surveyed by a licenced surveyor, boundaries to be pointed out by natives, he would at once give me a grant. May I trouble you to enquire whether any other steps are necessary. The Fee of Five Pounds on each claim, - i.e. my own at Tapatahi, and Brown's at Makaraka, - the grant of which is to be made in my name, of which Mr. Bell made a Memorandum, - have long been paid. I find I remitted the fees through Messrs. Jno. Salmon F Co. in July 1858. Yours faithfully (Signed) J.W. Harris.
