June 14, 1870. My dear McLean, I send you a letter from the Commodore. Show it to your colleagues, and let me know if you think the ''Wirago'' should go to the places Lambert mentions or elsewhere. I will write to Captain Manning accordingly. The ''Virago'' might stay some time at Tauranga and then come on here to meet the Commodore in August, showing herself at all the places on the East Coast that you think desirable. I suppose you have taken care that seats will be provided for Kemp, Ropata, and the other great Chiefs, at the opening of Parliament to-day. When shall we give Kemp his sword? the other 5 swords may be expected shortly; Lt. Topia was not on your list, so there will be none for him, unless the Colony provides one.
