The Lieutenant Governor, Instructions to Mr. McLean, relative to retaining right of road through Native Reserves. dated 5th. March 1849. Mr. Domett, Write to Mr. McLean, and state that whenever he enters into negotiations with Natives for the sale of their lands, and arranges that certain tracts and Reserves are to be set apart for them also, and their children, he must not forget the importance of securing on account of the Government, the power of carrying any public roads through such Reserves, whenever it may be found necessary to do so, for the general good of the community.
