. Napier 18th. December 1868 Dear Sir, Mr. McLean will fell much obliged if you will kindly furnish him with a diary of your movements from Wairoa to Poverty Bay, and in fact, until your return to Wairoa. It would be very interesting if you could give any information relative to the different engagements in which the Wairoa Contingent was engaged. It is not generally admitted that the Wairoa and Napier natives took a leading position, the Ngatiporou getting all the praise.
