''Clyde'' Jany. 9, 69 Dear Sir, The natives held a 'runanga' yesterday and 'Paora te Apatu' and 'Tamihana' have written to you respecting it. It is in fact little more than confirmation of what I have already laid before you respecting the attitude persisted in by the 'Ureweras'. It appears that 'te Rangiaho' killed at 'Ngatapa' is a son of 'Te Whenuanui' and that there were 50 to 70 of their people with 'Te Kooti'. I most strongly advocate an attack upon 'Tiki Tiki' it is obvious that so long as that stronghold remains that all the country to the west of the Waiau must remain unoccupied - It is scarcely necessary to go over again the arguments I have already advanced in support of my view inasmuch as you will hear now direct from the natives pretty well a repetition of all I have previously said on this subject.
