Petre, Wanganui June 5th, 1846. Sir, May I request the favor of your presenting the enclosed Memorial at your earliest convenience to His Excellency the Governor. The number of signatures attached to it may appear very few; but under existing circumstances it is necessary, that the subject of the Memorial should not at this moment be made too public, though we do not anticipate a single dissentient voice amongst the rest of our fellow settlers.
