Only a little while before your arrival I had been informed by the Bp. of Wellington - that you had not been consulted on the Waitara question, and that you did not know the circumstances of the case - so that it was impossible that I could have made any such assertion Miss Hunter in writing to Mrs. Govett mentioned that you were reported to have expressed your opinion that the Governor was mistaken in the course he had adopted.
