Onehunga Nov. 14th. - 60. My dear McLean, I send some minuted letters, also one from Mantell enclosing native letters from the south relating to matters I have no knowledge of, therefore leave you to minister. My Ancle is better - a couple of days more will see me on my legs again. About the Waikato committee's Report - I do not know what more is to be said by our deparfmen beyond what is contained in the memo. sent in to the committee which ought to be printed with the evidence. The report might be pulled to pieces but it is scarcely the thing for us to do the question turns upon a matter of opinion. Nothing in the report goes to invalidate the opinion formed by our department though it adopts a different one. Can you do anything for White - I enclose a note from him - he has written several times on the same subject. Sincerely yours, Thos. H. Smith.
