Private. New Plymouth Oct. 13, 1851. Dear Sir, You will probably hear various accounts with respect to proceedings at the public meeting of the 4th. and 9th. inst. - similar resolutions were adopted at both and it is with reluctance that I now allude to them because they were disgraceful as well as pitiful and after all, in reality prove nothing inasmuch as the sentiments conveyed are those of a class incapable of comprehending little beyond a "club law" form of Government - the animus and hostility to the proposed measure for consideration, propagated by incapables and encouraged by some who should have known better was disgraceful to any civilized community. The "Land Question" continues the theme of discussion amongst our Natives and this mail will probably carry letters on that everlasting subject until
