New Plymouth Nov. 4/62 Dear Sir I want to ask you to do me a favour before you leave the country. Now Bell is Nat. Minister I think you can prevail upon him to advance my Salary to £300 a year the same as all other officers in the same category as myself. When I took office I was promised an increase at no distant date, I have now served 5 1/2 years and as to the nature of my duties in that period no one understood them so well as you. Mr. Bell has twise mentioned the circumstances to me unasked for. His words were these, "I have spoken to the Governor and asked him to make your circumstances easier in New Plymouth". Dont say that I have asked you to speak for me as I intend writing officially soon about it. With kind regards Believe me dr. Sir Yours truly R. Parris. D McLean Esq
