August 28th/74 My dear McLean, I have seen the Attorney Genl. about the 8th Clause and I think it will be in every respect desirable to have the Governors Message with the amendment. The clause as it stands is useless and what is worse almost is ridiculous, and will give rise to comments from our critic the Chief Judge to which we shall have no reply. An alteration will also require to be made in the Native land clause, of the Immigration and Pub. Works Bill so as to get rid of a dangerous alteration in the wording made as I am told by Mr. Johnny Sheehan with an intention which I am sure is knavish. Yours very truly, Daniel Pollen
