Napier February 4th 1874 Dear McLean I forgot in my letter closed just now to tell you that I have numerous enquiries when the new Native Land Act will be in operation here - Nominally of course it is now but in reality nothing can be done until the Judge has been appointed - I am told a good many transactions await completion here which cannot be done until the Court sits - I have been asked to represent this to you - Enclosed is a letter from Woodbine Johnson abt. Nesbitt's salary. You will see what he says about that and other things I hear the brother will be out in time for the next Session and Woodbine intends to contest the East Coast seat at next election. Yours always J.D. Ormond
