Napier 27th Aug. 67 My dear McLean Here is a letter from our old friend Ihaka Whaanga which I enclose you - Your letters of the 21 and 22nd shall have my attention - I have written to the inland people telling them not to come down on the 20th but have fixed no day for the council meeting - I fancy you will not be here much before the 15 or 23rd Oct, as there seems to have been little done yet save sparring on very fishy subjects such as the Otago one. Yours truly J. Rhodes There is also another letter from Henare matua of Porangahau to whom I wrote about the Hauhau people - There appears little foundation for all the reports we had about. J. R.
