(Father Forest.) Dear Mr. McLean, I have just received your note of yesterday inviting me to dine this evening. How sorry I am to be compelled again to tell you that I regret very much I shall not be able to attend, for these two reasons: first today is a fast day with us; secondly every dvening during this week at half past seven o'clock we have for our Congregation evening prayers at which I have to deliver a lecture in the chapel, if it was not for that I would be very glad indeed to correspond to your kind invitation. I hope you will excuse me. I Remain, Dear sir, your most obedient servant J. Forest, C.J. Napier, 20th December, /65.
