the house since my return from Maketu - the fall I got gave me a tremendous shaking. The "Challenger" has arrived here, and I think the Commodore will remain a few days. The "Tauranga" just in - I have your letters. Our opinions you will find with regard to McDonnell and Hay being together will quite coincide. If you do not raise any objection I will take a run up to Auckland by next opportunity. I feel sorry that Rapata has not left as I have been putting great faith on that part of the Expedition. However you know best. I am anxious to get this road work on, but I do not think the Thames Volunteers are very keen. Very faithfully yours, Hy. T. Clarke.
