Letter from H.T. Kemp to D. McLean dated 24th, June 1853. (from the original) Wellington 24th, June 1853 My dear McLean, I drop a hasty line to say that the Governor has determined to make another effort for the Wairarapa, as you will perceive from the en-closed, --- upon a new principle. It is to be a "Komite nui." Circulars have been addressed by the to the principal settlements, and you will, as you come along, bring those who you may think should be present, Letters have been sent along the Coast as far as Wharema, including "Whereta". It is to be hoped they will "" the Governor's invitation, if only to hear what he may have to say. Yours faithfully (Signed) H.T. Kemp. To:- Donald McLean.
