Grafton Road Auckland Sept. 20th. 1871. Dear Mr. Fox, I have seen the new edition of Williams ''Maori Dictionary''. I think I have between 2 and 3000 Maori words that are still not in it. I made an offer to the Honourable D. McLean of all the Maori words I have for £150. I have not received an answer. This offer I made before the new Edition came out. Do you think the Government would print an Edition of a Maori Dictionary. If they will I will take charge of it and put the words I have in and the Government can give me any remuneration they think fit. Yours very sincerely John White. The honourable W. Fox, Wellington.
