New Plymouth May 18, 57 My dear Sir, Having submitted Ihaia's letter to the Superintendent and Mr. Parris for perusal I have thought it best to forward it on to you. Ihaia is impatient notwithstanding all is done here in our power to keep him quiet and prevent a renewal of hostilities. Efforts have likewise been made to conciliate Katatore without effecting any result. I understand that a memorial has been sent to the Provincial Govt. by Ihaia and other natives, offering the Ikamoana for sale on the ground of not having received an answer to their letters from the Genl. Government. Faithfully yours, H. Halse To:- McLean Esq.
