Government House, New Zealand, May 14, 1872 My dear McLean, Lord Canterbury has written to me to ask if I can find anything abt. the fate of "Edward Lloyd Trevor," said to have been in the Colonial Forces, and to have been killed by the Maoris in 1868 or thereabouts. This is all the information that Lord Canterbury gives, having been applied to by a friend in England. Perhaps the records of your office may throw some light on the matter. pray give orders for enquiry. I shall be here, waiting for the Mail, till next Thursday or Friday. Very truly yours, G. F. Bowen.
