Ohinemuri July 2nd/ 70 Dear Sir, Would you kindly let the Ngati oes have the arms you promised with with addition of ten stands making in all twenty stands of arms which they require for self defence as they are threatened by the Hauhaus. I think myself matters are assuming a searious aspect and that the hauhaus will certainly attack them if they can get men to join their ranks. I think you will not do wrong by lending them 20 stands of arms which I will see returned to you when the danger is over. The arms can remain in my care till really required. Tupokino has informed them that one of Te Kotis men Paura Toki had told him that 300 men were coming to Ohinemuri to hold it against the Europeans and friendlies. I am dear Sir, faithfully yours, John W. Thorp
