Dear McLean, Since I closed my long letter to you I have one from Gisborne a passage of which shd. go on to you - he says "If you see or communicate with McLean do prevail on him to go as soon as possible to West Coast, Patea, there are little clouds rising there which will, if not dissipated by his personal exertions, soon bring confusion and disaster". All I know about West Coast affairs is from a Telegram Gisborne sent me the other day by mistake and which I burnt at once. You may have it, though from the in-considerate language used perhaps it was not sent you.
